Once again, a Berlin voting precinct was selected, in a lottery, for an election audit by the state which took place Nov. 20.
Since the implementation of the optical scan machines, by law, 10 percent of the machines are matched against hand-counted totals to ensure the integrity of the voting.
This was an audit of the general election results from Nov. 4.

The Lipizzaner Stallions came to Mohegan Sun Arena Nov. 19 as part of the show's 38th Anniversary Tour.
Anyone who's ever tried to keep a horse at a steady pace - or tried to train an animal to follow any command - would likely be awed at the invisible bond between rider and horse that brought near-flawless ballet and battle moves to the floor of the arena.

The air conditioning units at McGee Middle School have been cleaned, but the school district still needs to upgrade the heating-ventilating-air conditioning system, said officials at the Nov. 18 Town Council meeting.
Air quality and moisture issues will continue to be problematic, said John Pajor public works director.

Berlin Helping Berlin is a recently formed civic organization at Berlin High School that consists of students, faculty and other staff. The group held a fundraiser Nov. 18 to assist Berlin residents who need help with the cost of fuel.
Altogether, more than 100 BHS representatives took part in the event. The active fundraiser consisted of participating in a five-mile run, a five-mile walk, a 15-mile bike ride or a two-hour swim relay.

A silent auction, an annual holiday event sponsored by the Berlin Chamber of Commerce, kept the crowd on the move as they shopped for bargains Nov. 14. The event was held at the Hawthorne Inn. Local merchants donated the items and Executive Director Kate Fuechsal and chamber volunteers kept track of the bids.

Developers of the Sherwood Mills property are seeking town help and, at its Tuesday night meeting, the Town Council will consider holding a public hearing to consider aid for environmental remediation.
The old mill at 1 Main St., and other adjacent properties, is being developed into housing units.

The Planning and Zoning Commission is being sued, by a Citgo gas station, in regards to a new zoning amendment that will allow Stop & Shop to open a gas station with 1,500 feet of where the 3 Mill St. Citgo is located.
A suit was filed Oct. 15 in Superior Court of New Britian.

The Berlin Police Department has scheduled "Stuff-A-Cruiser" for Saturday, Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of Rogers Marketplace, 45 Chamberlain Highway.
Donations of food, new toys, personal hygiene products and household items are requested.

Saturn of Berlin consolidates with Hartford dealership

In the space of one night this week, Saturn of Berlin, located at the corner of Webster Square Road and Frontage Road, moved all of its cars and re-located to Saturn of Hartford, leaving the two-plus acre spot vacant.
