Backstreet Boys leave me screaming
The Backstreet Boys are back (once again) and better than ever with their new album Unbreakable and world tour.
The boys appeared at Mohegan Sun on August 14 where thousands of elated girls of all ages eagerly awaited their performance.
I sat amidst the hard-core fans as they chanted "Backstreet Boys!" along with stamping their feet and starting the wave because the thought of waiting one more minute for the boys to come out was far too long.
The opening act was a less than impressive performance by Girlicious, the new girl group created by the Pussycat Dolls on a reality TV show last year. The crowd paid no attention to their risqué dance moves and just plain embarrassing song lyrics which destroyed any talent that they may have. I felt relieved when they finally left the stage.
As for the boys, they kicked off the concert with several older hits such as "Larger Than Life" and "I Want It That Way," which quickly brought me back to my tween and teen days and suddenly I too was wound up in the Backstreet Boys mania. I danced and sang my heart out, realizing that I too know just about every word and maybe I'm just as hard-core a fan.
In between the older hits the boys introduced some of the songs from the new album such as "Panic" and their new single "Inconsolable," an uplifting ballad that I find myself belting out as I'm driving in my car.
Each band member also took the time to perform a song from each of their solo albums, showing that they can be successful as solo artists as well as be a part of the Backstreet Boys' legacy.
Although the boys have grown and matured since their last albums, their enthusiasm and exceptionally boy-bandish dance moves on stage showed that they were still the same boys who can put on an amazing performance.
Although they lost one of their band members, Kevin Richardson, the band didn't seem to be all that "Incomplete."
After merely 15 years the boys definitely have an incredibly loyal fan base that proves that the Backstreet Boys aren't going anywhere, and neither are their fans. And one more thing - Nick Carter - if you're reading this, will you marry me?
