Pet Meet & Greet - Friends of Berlin Animal Control has scheduled a Meet & Greet for Saturday, Nov. 22 from 1 to 3 p.m. at A.S. Labieniec, 945 Farmington Ave. Meet the friendly, beautiful cats that are in need of loving, permanent homes. The municipal shelter is full; the cats need homes now. Thanksgiving Food Drive - The Cub Scouts of Pack 41, Den 6 have scheduled their 5th annual Thanksgiving Non-perishable Food Drive for Saturday, Nov. 22 from noon to 2 p.m. at Rogers Marketplace. The non-perishable food items that are collected benefit the Berlin Food Pantry.

Casino trip - Berlin High School Class of 2009 All Night Graduations Party has scheduled a casino bus trip to Mohegan Sun on Saturday, Nov. 22. Bus leaves the high school at 4:30 p.m. to return at 11:30 p.m. Cost is $30 per person, which includes round trip transportation, $10 in gaming vouchers and $10 food voucher.

Yankee Peddler Fair - The Berlin Congregational Church's has scheduled its annual Yankee Peddler Fair for Saturday, Nov. 22 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event features three rooms filled with craft items as well as a kid's booth that has scheduled games, live goldfish prizes and a free kids drawing. Coping with the Holidays - St. Paul Church has scheduled "Coping with the Holidays" for Sunday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. in the St. Paul parish center. The program is intended to help those dealing with the loss of a loved one and how they may cope during the holidays. Boy Scouts - Boy Scout Troop 44, chartered by the Berlin Lions, meets Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at Bethany Covenant Church. Troop 44 offers a full scouting program including outdoor adventures such as camping, fishing and hiking, as well as opportunities to earn merit badges and pursue advancements towards the Eagle rank. Decorating Committee- The All Night Graduation Party Decorating Committee is scheduled to meet for a work session every Wednesday night from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the Willard Elementary School basement.

VFW breakfast- The 14th annual VFW Post 511 Scholarship Fundraiser, an all you can eat breakfast is scheduled for Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 27 from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Post 511 is located at 41 Veterans Drive, New Britain, across from the Veterans Memorial Stadium. Tickets are available from members and at the door. Cost is adults, $6; school age children, $4; preschool children are free. All proceeds benefit the VFW scholarships. Santa is scheduled to visit from 9 to 10 a.m.

3 Wednesday

Pasta supper - An all you can eat pasta supper is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 3 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Berlin High School cafeteria. Cost is only $5 and a raffle will be held. All proceeds benefit the AIDS/Poverty Club at the high school.

Meeting - The All Night Graduation Party chairs and executive committee is scheduled to meet Wednesday, Nov. 12 from 6 to 7 p.m. in the media center a the high school, followed by a meeting for any interested parent from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Open house - Precious Petals Floral Design, 500 Four Rod Rd., has scheduled an open house for Wednesday, Dec. 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. The open house will give the public an opportunity to meet the designers. Holiday Fair - The Berlin Historical Society has scheduled its 6th annual Holiday Fair for Friday, Dec. 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the museum on Main Street (at the corner of Peck Street).

The fair offers hand crafted items, holiday gift baskets, wreaths, floral arrangements, chocolate confections, and baked goods as well as spices and Connecticut maple sugar products.

The museum is also open during the fair and refreshments will be served.

Berlin Garden Club - The Berlin Garden Club is scheduled to decorate the Berlin Railroad Station Friday, Dec. 5 at 9 a.m.

American Girl - Celebrate the holiday season on Saturday, Dec. 6 with a special American Girl event at Mommy and Me Children's Boutique, 384 Main St. Join your friends from 2 to 3 p.m. and decorate a lacy Victorian holiday stocking just like Samantha would have made in the 1900's. Refreshments will be served and each girl will receive an American Girl treat bag. Stop by the shop to fill out a raffle ticket for a chance to win the Samantha doll that soon will be retired from the catalog and American Girl stores. This is one of the last opportunities to purchase Samantha accessories. A $10 material fee is requested on the day of the event. Art reception - The New Britain Museum of American Art has scheduled an opening reception for its new exhibition entitled Double Lives: American Painters as Illustrators, 1850-1950 for Thursday, Dec. 11 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The exhibition is scheduled to be on display through Feb. 22 at the museum, located at 56 Lexington St., New Britain. Travelers 84th Annual Free Spring Concert at CCSU

On Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 7:30 p.m., the Travelers Choral Club presents their 84th Annual Spring Concert titled Songs of Dreams. Plan now to attend this inspirational evening of musical entertainment at Welte Auditorium located on the Central Connecticut State University campus in New Britain. Dorothy Barnhart will direct the 76-voice choir and Stacy Cahoon will accompany the talented group of singers. The TCC will perform songs made famous by ABBA, The Beach Boys, and The Beatles, as well as a collection of traditional early American spirituals.
This event is free, open to the public, and tickets are not required for admittance to the show. Free indoor and outdoor parking is also provided.
In lieu of paid admission and as a service to the greater Hartford community, the Travelers Choral Club asks that all in attendance provide a nonperishable food donation. This spring concert promises to be a memorable night out so bring along family, friends, and neighbors. Welte Auditorium holds 1,800 so arrive early for best seating. Foodshare's 25th Annual Walk Against Hunger will take place from 1 - 4 pm on the afternoon of May 4, 2008. The event is a three mile walk through the west end of Hartford, bringing the community together to help fight hunger. Team Captains needed! AARP and Divided We Fail Convene Opinion Leaders’ Forum- June 5

On June 5, AARP will host an Opinion Leaders’ Forum on health care in Hartford at the Legislative Office Building, 300 Capitol Avenue, Hartford from 9 a.m. to Noon. Registration is free and a continental breakfast will be provided. Registration begins at 9 am and the program begins at 10:15 am on June 5th.

Joining AARP, as members of our Opinion Leader Panel, will be: Brian Burnell, Chief Political Reporter, New England Cable News, Moderator; John Olsen, President, CT AFL-CIO; David W.
