Cecelia Hadfield

 Cecelia "Ceil" (Grzesczyk) Hadfield, 89, of Berlin, widow of Royal W. Hadfield Sr., passed away Friday (November 14, 2008) at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain.  A native and former New Britain resident, Ceil has lived in Berlin since 1957.  A graduate of New Britain High School, she worked in the family business "Hadfield Sports Shops" from 1963 to 1973.  Ceil was an avid home gardener and baker, and was formerly a longtime volunteer at the Berlin Fair.

 

            Surviving are two sons, Royal "Rod" Hadfield Jr. and his wife Nicole in France; and Robert Hadfield and his wife Elizabeth of New Britain; five grandchildren, Tyrone Hadfield and his wife Kimberly; Christian Hadfield; Angelica Trenholm; Kristina Cord; and Sarah Freel and her husband Stephen; two step-grandchildren, Ryan and Kaitlyn Love; several nieces and nephews.  Besides her husband Royal, she was predeceased by a granddaughter, Amy Hadfield; a brother, Edward Grzesczyk and two sisters, Florence Schindler and Lillian LaFontaine.

 

            Funeral services are Wednesday 10 AM at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain.  Burial will be in Maple Cemetery.  Calling hours are Tuesday 5 to 7 PM at Carlson Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492.  Please share a memory or note of sympathy at www.carlsonfuneralhome.com
