  John "Jack" Patrick Padden, 62, of Berlin, loving husband of Elizabeth Ann (Worsnop) Padden, died late Thursday evening at Yale-New Haven Hospital after a courageous battle with lymphoma. His courage and optimism was an inspiration to all. Born in Holyoke, Massachusetts, the son of the late John Francis Padden and the late Corinne (Berard) Padden, he received his Associate's degree from Springfield Technical College, served in the US Army as a calibration technician specialist, and was employed at Northeast Utilities until his retirement. He was a member of St. Paul's Church and American Legion Post #68. An avid tennis player, he organized the NUSCO tennis league, and also enjoyed golf. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John Jason Padden and his wife Susan of Woodbury, Minnesota, a brother and sister-in-law, William and Halina Padden of DelRay Beach, Florida, two grandchildren, Emily and John Padden who were his greatest joy in the last five years spent with them, a niece, and a nephew. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9am from the Porter's Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Kensington, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 10am at St. Paul Church on Alling Street in Kensington.  Burial with full military honors will follow in Maple Cemetery, Berlin. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday from 5-8pm.
